Choose decorative plaster

Having decided, to replace traditional wallpapers with decorative plaster, not a dedicated consumer is faced with the problem of choice. The price tags in supermarkets are full of names decorative, textured, structural plaster, plaster, knock. In fact, under all these names the same thing can be hidden. Just every manufacturer prefers to call his product differently. And in order to understand what is in the bucket, you need to carefully study the label. The value for the consumer is information about what appearance the plaster will have, the method of its application, which material acts as a binder, the filler fraction, the recommended thickness of the decorative layer.

Types of textured plaster

And already on the basis of these data, the following types of textured plaster can be distinguished:

- the relief surface is obtained by processing the applied layer with various tools, the thickness of the layer depends on the selected tool and texture (2-7mm);

- the embossed (structural) surface is formed due to the presence in its composition of coarse-band filler, a thickness of 1-6 mm (depending on the filler fraction);

- The texture is formed by multilayer application of the necessary material, smooth to the touch, the thickness of such a coating does not exceed 1.5 mm.

The so -called variation plaster is worth it. In this case, a base and a separate filler are separately purchased. To date, you can separately purchase marble, quartz crumbs of various fractions, flopes and chips. This allows you to independently control the amount of filler and its fraction.

Plaster with a relief surface

Classification by type of binder

The scope and the price of textured plaster depends on the binder.

The cheapest are plasters based on mineral binder. As an astringent, cement, gypsum, or gamut lime are used. These types of plaster have good vapor permeability, have good adhesion with a mineral base. Cement -based plasters are resistant to moisture. Therefore, they can be used for outdoor decoration and finishing in wet rooms.

But cement -based plasters have a rough texture, so they will not be appropriate in every interior.

The most persistent are epoxy and polyurethane plaster. They are not afraid of even fire and chemicals. Polyurethane plasters are used not only for internal work, but also for external ones. Their scope is almost limitless. But there is a significant minus - the chemical origin of these materials. This suggests that while working with them in the room there may be a specific smell. And during heating to 140C, toxic substances begin to be released. Yes, and the cost of plaster based on epoxy resins does not differ in democracy.

Therefore, the most optimal option is considered water-based stucco, in which polyvinyl acetate, acrylic, and acrylic are used as a binder. All of them have good plasticity, vapor permeable, resistant to ultraviolet radiation, are not afraid of moisture. In wet rooms, it is not recommended to use polyvinyl acetate plasters. And the cost of textured plaster based on acrylic is not so high.

A variety of fillers for plaster

Plasters, the relief of which is formed through the use of special tools, in their composition only have a fine filler, which does not affect the appearance of the plastered surface.

Another thing is plaster in which the relief pattern depends on the filler. Fillers responsible for the formation of textures are divided into several groups. The most common is the group that includes mineral fillers. This includes granite, marble and quartz crumbs of various fractions. The most common plaster with quartz filler is textured bark beetle plaster. It is used for internal and external works. For interior decoration, it is recommended to use compounds with a smaller aggregate .. When choosing a plaster with a mineral filler, it is worth considering that the larger the fraction of the mineral crumbs, the greater the consumption of the material.

Instead of natural minerals, some manufacturers use polymer granules. The principle of working with such materials is the same as when using a plaster with a natural filler.

In a separate group, stone fillers are distinguished. Most often, sandstone is used for this. Using this filler, imitate a stone surface.

Interesting effects can be achieved when applying plasters, which include cellulose or silk fibers.

Way of applying bark beetle plastering

Application of textured bark beetles is not much different from applying any other plaster with a large filler. First, the surface is cleaned of dust and primed. The finished plaster is mixed, so that the filler is evenly distributed in the composition. It is better to mix manually so as not to damage the filler. It is advisable to apply plaster from the bottom up with a trowel or a metal spatula. The thickness of the layer should not exceed 5-6mm. The area of \u200b\u200bthe surface covered at a time each selects individually. But at the same time, it is worth considering that to rub the plaster to give a finished look, they begin to harden before the applied composition. Therefore, it is convenient to work together. One applies plaster, and the second with the help of a half -terrain creates the labyrinths on the surface. In the process of applying and leveling the composition on the tools, the remains of the plaster remain, which must be removed in time with a damp rag.

The finished structural surface does not need coating with colorful compounds. Unless of course, the color is not conceived by the project. In this case, when buying a plaster, it is better to immediately stab it in the desired color. All major manufacturers and sales provide such a service.

Decorative plaster or canvas for the artist

Decorative plaster textured without a large aggregate is a material that gives truly unlimited possibilities for decorators, artists and architects. With its help, you can create any surface, it is used when creating wall panels, it is decorated with modern frescoes. Textured plaster and technology for decorating things are incompatible. To create a texture, you can use many improvised materials. For example, a washcloth, a rag, cellophane bags, a comb. Well, in stores there are enough special tools for working with textured plaster. For example, a spatula with a curly edge that allows you to create waves or grooves. There are also rollers for textured plaster. A pattern is cut on their surface, which, when rolling along a fresh decorative coating, remains on the wall. Thus, you can create a texture of wood or grass. And if you put a cover of fabric on a regular roller, you can get the texture of the rumpled paper on the surface.

How to make a pattern pattern

The first step in creating a relief pattern on the wall as always is the preparation of the surface (sealing cracks, dust cleansing, primer).

The next stage is placed. The plaster is applied to the wall with a layer of 3-5 mm and leveled. It is necessary to work energetically, since the drying process occurs very quickly.

Well, then an exciting game called in the artist begins. To give the relief, we take the selected tool and begin to form the texture. We press the roller or embossed spatula into the plaster layer and draw along it in a predetermined direction (horizontally, vertically, wave -like, arched and so on). The relief depth depends on the degree of pressure on the tool. If there are doubts about how the selected pattern in a specific setting will look, it is better to experiment in advance on a small section of the wall and choose the right texture.

A little dried embossed surface needs to be invited. To do this, they dip a metal ironing iron into the water, and slightly touching the wall, smoothes large ledges.

After completely drying, the wall can be fucked with small sandpaper, to give a more tidy look. And you can only remove poorly holding particles with a spatula.

The last stage is refinement. Painting textured plaster is no less exciting process. You can, of course, paint everything in one color, or you can combine different colors. For this, first the whole creation is covered with a darker color. Then they wash the paint from the protruding areas with a rag and a light kner is applied to them. This will help additionally focus on surface relief.

Texture without texture

With the help of such plasters, you can imitate marble, animal skin, various scuffs, fabrics, papyrus, cracks.

The most popular representative of this group is Venetian plaster. It was decorated by her several centuries ago by rifs and palaces, and today private apartments and houses. The finishing of textured plaster really deserves attention.

The composition of the Venetian plaster includes slaughtered lime, marble flour and water emulsion. This composition is tinted in different colors. Using different shades on different layers allows you to achieve the effect of depth.

Venetian plaster can only be applied to smooth and even walls. For primer, compounds with quartz filler are used.

The first layer of plaster is applied in an even layer over the entire surface of the wall. But on the subsequent layers, separate chaotic smears are applied by the cell, without blocking the layer completely below. You can proceed to apply the next layer after the previous one has completely dried. In this case, each layer is necessarily smoothed and wiped, giving the surface the texture. If there are defects on the surface, they are corrected using sandpaper.

The final stage when working with textured plasters imitating the texture is waxing or varnish.

Each of the materials presented will easily displace the boring wallpaper and smooth plain walls.

I am building a country house by little, fasteners are leaving a lot of different things (nails, self -tapping screws, anchors, etc.), and I made it a little buy in different places. A friend suggested in http: // Republic. RF/ See, they say, everything is there a water place. And for sure, the bag of fasteners bought different ones, it was inexpensive. Now I plan to cut it there after the perforator, I looked at a good one there. In general, a good store, I recommend it.
