Ways to repair the roof of the garage

In fact, one or another method of repairing the roof of the garage depends on the construction itself, the type of roof and the degree of wear of the structure. See for yourself: one sheet of corrugated board can cover up to 9 sq.m of the surface, and a sheet of flexible tiles is 0.14 sq.m. It turns out that in order to cover all the same 9 sq.m. You will have to fix 63 tiles on the surface of the roof, and this will take away a lot of time and effort from you.

So, before starting repair work, remove all the garbage from the roof and especially carefully clean its most problematic places. Carefully inspect the roof, perhaps everything is not so bad and you can limit yourself to only patches, and not with a complete replacement of the roof. If the old materials are still suitable, then just cut off the holes with an ax in those places that you consider problematic in the future you lay them and thereby return the roof of the former reliability.

If the roof of your garage was covered with soft roofing materials such as roofing material, then perhaps you will notice a crack or swelling on its surface. Such defects need to be eliminated before repair. To do this, take a sharp knife and cut the place of the flaw of the cross. Bend the resulting triangles so that they do not puff and do not prevent you from moving freely along the roof, and carefully clean all their insides from dust and debris. Later, you pour these holes with bitumen, thereby preventing the flow.

Having decided to repair the roof of the garage with your own hands using hot bitumen, you will have to stock up:

Soft roofing materials include roofing material and bicrost. The first is laid on the bitumen mastic, the second is swimmed using a gas burner. Accordingly, we can conclude that the bikost is much easier to install, because you do not have to mess with mastic.

It is also not difficult to repair the roof of the garage roof by roofing roof. If you decide that you still do not need major repairs with a complete replacement of the roof, then just cut off a few pieces of roofing material and bore the cut openings for them. The cut should fully correspond to the size of the holes, otherwise all the work will be a drain.

First, resin or bitumen mastic is applied inside the hole. Then a piece of roofing material is laid, and another layer of bitumen on top. You do not need to wait for drying, but you must immediately return the bent triangles to place. Now it remains only to patch the formed cuts using another patch. The main thing is that the size of the piece is a few centimeters more than the damaged areas. On top of the patch, apply an additional layer of mastic so you will achieve the desired result with a greater probability.

The next step (unless, of course, you decide to completely cover the roof) complete waterproofing of the roof using roofing material. The lining of the panels is carried out on a layer of ground, which must be applied in parts as the work progresses. Ruberoid stripes are overlapped with 10-15 centimeters. If the bubbles appear during styling, then they are cut with a knife, and the seats are tightly pressed to the surface of the roof and additionally smeared with a budron.

Pay special attention to places of the roof of your garage with neighboring roofs. As a rule, cracks and detachment of old materials are formed at these joints.

Using roofing material, a single, almost whole, canvas is created, which prevents the penetration of moisture into the room. In most cases, one layer of material is enough, while the double carpet is arranged in cases where the operating conditions are quite difficult, or weather conditions leave much to be desired.

The cost of repairing the roof of the garage using roofing material will be about 500-600 rubles. This amount includes the roofing material itself (210-300 rubles for a roll of 10-15 meters), resin or bitumen 100 rubles per bag and improvised materials (if there are no one in your arsenal).

Bicrost

Everything is much simpler with the bikrost, because this material does not require the use of bitumen mastic or ground. For its installation, a gas burner is used, and it is attached to the surface of the roof using a special layer of oxidized bitumen, which quickly and easily adheses the base.

Gently roll a roll 50-60 centimeters. Warm the wrong side of the gas burner and press this piece to the surface of the roof using a T-shaped stick. Standing your feet on the fresh roof, roll out the roll for another half meters and again warm the inside of the burner. The second strip needs to be laid from the first centimeters of Na7-8.

Thus, you will need only an hour and a half to repair the standard roof of the city garage, while with roofing material or bitumen you will have to escape much longer. True, in the case of the use of a bikrost for the repair of the garage roof, the price of this repair will increase from 500 rubles to 1,500 rubles, since the melted material costs much more than roofing material.

Repair of the garage roof using corrugated board and metal tiles

In private households, garage is usually a separate building. The roof of such a structure is usually made of hard roofing materials, such as corrugated board, flexible tiles or metal tiles. It will not be difficult to replace the damaged sheet of corrugated board, but sometimes situations happen when it is necessary to completely replace the roof.

Corrugated board

To do this, you will need a disc saw, roulette and a screwdriver. The slope of a separate garage consists of whole sheets of corrugated board, which will not increase in length, as, for example, in the case of metal tiles. The overlap in this case will be lateral, so one wave will be quite enough. Since the width of one sheet is a little more than a meter, for a standard garage 5 meters long you will need five sheets of corrugated board.

In one of the upper corners, install the first sheet using a screwdriver, but do not immediately fix it tightly. Next, fix two more sheets and check the coincidence of the line of the roof skate with the edges of the sheets. After all the sheets were leveled, fix them completely. The upper and lower part of the corrugated board is attached through the wave, and its middle in a checkerboard pattern.

Metal tile

The metal tile is attached from the bottom up. Its fasteners are carried out using self -tapping screws equipped with a rubber gasket (you can buy them, or you can do it yourself). Clamping tiles are laid over, and for their reliable fixation in the upper and lower part of the sheet there are special latches. In principle, everything is fast and simple, however, the cost of the tile is quite high, which means that you will have to pay a considerable amount for repairing the roof of your garage. But how beautiful she will be!
