• Installation of a stained glass without using a suspended ceiling design. This method implies that the mount will be carried out in a decorative ledge below the level of the black ceiling.

• Installation of stained glass in the form of a box. This mounting method is used if it is necessary to fix the stained glass ceiling in the form of a large lamp - box.

Since the first method of fastening is the most common, let's look at it in more detail.

For installation of stained glass panels, it is necessary to pre -design a metal frame around the entire perimeter of the base of the stained glass. To do this, on the ceiling, it is necessary in parallel on the axes of the frame at a distance of 60 centimeters to mark the suspensions. In places of marks, holes are drilled and steel anchors are attached up to 20 centimeters long for further installation of suspensions. For fasteners, about 8-10 bolts are mainly used, taking into account the mass of the stained glass, the structure should be a certain excess strength. Next, we fasten the main profiles in the guides and to the suspensions, after which we bend them. Now it is necessary to attach secondary profiles to the main profiles in those places where the glass layers are planned in the future. Thus, a metal grill comes out, which is a single -level frame.

It is necessary to fix the frame strictly in level, as this excludes the possibility of glass loss. To do this, you can use a cord or fishing line.

Since the frame is used during installation of the stained glass ceiling, therefore, there is no need to carry out preparatory work with the base.

You also need to not forget about the markings for communication and air conditioning systems, this will exclude the possibility of overheating and short circuit. After the preparatory stage of work is made and the lighting will take its place in the niche, you should proceed directly to the installation of stained glass glasses using the level around the perimeter. Glass slabs are mounted in the frame of the frame using self -tapping screws. Do not forget that individual elements of the stained glass ceiling must be made removable for further maintenance of lighting devices.

If you wish, you can independently prepare stained glass layers, but if you have never encountered glass firing, then it is better to purchase all such stained glasses and make a frame under their size.

The cost of stained glass ceilings is directly dependent on the area and complexity of the installation, and installation work is about 15-30 % of the total cost. Of course, the simpler design, the less it costs.

Lighting in a stained glass ceiling

With properly planned lighting, the light passing through the glass panels will create a special unique atmosphere in the room.

There are several ways to create a stained glass lighting. For example, you can place light sources from the inside along the circuit of the stained glass or in the middle after it is point lighting. But the stained glass ceiling will look most spectacular if its entire surface shines. For this purpose, you can use fluorescent lamps or neon pipes, but today the most relevant is the illumination of LEDs. It has quite a lot of advantages: it is easy to install, occupies a minimum number of space, has a long service life (within 10 years), there is the possibility of regulating brightness and, if necessary, the color of the backlight.

For installation of this type of lighting, the minimum distance from the stained glass to the ceiling should be 7 centimeters, and the most optimal - 10-15 centimeters. The LED tape is attached to the surface of the stained glass in parallel rows at the same distance as from the stained glass to the ceiling (7-15 centimeters).

Basically, stained glass windows is not used as the only source of lighting, since light passing through glass slabs loses its richness. Therefore, in a room with a stained glass ceiling, additional lighting devices are also placed, especially this is important when decorating shopping centers, where lighting plays a major role.
