Day by day there are more and more completely new building materials. Of course, the promotion of such goods does not occur at the market with lightning speed. Repair is a thorough process, which implies a stable effect on the output for many years. Therefore, not everyone is ready to decide on the experiment and use unfamiliar material. But if the material has proven itself well, then its popularity is growing an avalanche -like. Such building material as a bulk floor was no exception. Its popularity among consumers is constantly growing. And an important role in this is played by a very simple and affordable technology for installing a bulk floor. There is no need to seek help from professional builders. Provided to comply with the instructions, anyone will successfully cope with the filling of the finish bulk floor with their own hands.
Durability. A properly flooded floor will last more than a dozen years.
Strength.
It reacts perfectly to sharp temperature changes.
Not afraid of moisture.
Resistant to all kinds of chemicals.
It has increased fire safety.
When heated does not poison the air with toxic substances.
Excellent appearance for many years. The finished floor, the photo of which is presented below.
The floor is perfectly even. It is easy to care for him. To maintain an impeccable look, there is enough wet cleaning a couple of times a week.
Mold and microorganisms on the bulk floor do not multiply, dust does not delay.
An indisputable advantage is the possibility of filling the bulk floor over the floor of the warm.
Types of bulk floors
Two main types of bulk floors are distinguished:
Polymer. Divided into:
Epoxy. They are made of epoxy resins. Have increased mechanical strength, resistance to moisture and chemicals. This type of bulk floors is used mainly in production facilities and in rooms with an increased level of humidity.
Epoxy uretana. The main places of application of area with increased mechanical load. These are parking, platforms. The peculiarity of such a bulk floor is high strength and durability.
Mineral. The mixture includes the following components:
Mineral fillers. It is on them that such characteristics of the bulk floor as plasticity, strength, the time for which the material will harden.
Modifiers.
Cement.
These mixtures have such properties as self -growing and self -leveling. However, they still cannot do without the initial distribution of their floor.
Most often, mineral mixtures are used to align the floor, followed by its other finishing materials.
There are three groups of mineral mixtures:
Basic. Purpose of alignment of irregularities and changes in concrete screed. The thickness of the layer up to 8 cm. The drying time is about 12 hours.
Average. Purpose of aligning cement-sand or concrete bases with a small drop in heights. The thickness of the layer is up to 3 cm. The drying time is about 4 hours.
Finish. Destination final alignment. It is applied provided that the height drops do not exceed 1 cm.
It is mineral mixtures that are used to fill the floor in residential premises.
Manufacturers offer a very wide selection of mixtures for filling the bulk floor. A good reputation is the mixtures of the ECON series.
Bulk floor
When choosing a floor covering, pay attention to the finish -based bulk floor. Its main purpose is aligned with any horizontal bases, followed by the laying of the flooring on it. In this case, linoleum, laminate, carpet and even tile cladding can act as a flooring. The finished flooring, the device of which is carried out using a mixture of the econ, does not tolerate increased humidity and high mechanical loads very well. Therefore, this type of bulk floor is used mainly in residential premises.
Among the main advantages I want to highlight:
The bulk floor of this species is very easily aligned.
The possibility of technological passage after 8 hours.
Environmental Safety.
Possible layer thickness when using this mixture 3-15 mm.
It is used at temperatures from +5 to +30C. Although it is best to carry out work at +18 - +20s.
The time of solidification of the finished mixture is about 30 minutes.
The coverage time of the coating with thickness:
from 3 to 5 mm 24 hours;
from 5 to 15 mm 72 hours.
The consumption of dry mixture for filling the floor with a layer of 1 mm is 1.8 kg/m2.
Prepare the base for the finish -based bulk floor
The key to the proper filling of the bulk floor is a thorough preparation of the base for filling. The floor, flooded on an unprepared base, loses most of its useful properties.
Carefully clean the base under the floor. If there was any coating on the floor, remove it. It is necessary to leave an exceptionally clean concrete screed.
Thoroughly sprinkle the purified surface. Wash it.
Explore the concrete screed for cracks, chips, the presence of oil and fat spots. Say the foundation of detected defects. Remove the areas on which the concrete crumbles, areas with oil and fat spots, clean the cracks of concrete crumbs.
Grind all cracks and irregularities. Love them with any available building material: cement, concrete solution, mastic, grout. The main thing is to achieve a flat surface for filling the floor.
Using the level, check the horizontal base under the floor. With too large changes in height, it is advisable to preliminary alignment. The fact is that the smoother and horizontal the surface, the less a mixture of the finish -free floor will be needed, the price of which significantly exceeds the cost of ordinary cement.
On pre -leveled, cleaned and dried floor, apply a primer. The primer will not only close all the remaining pores of the base, but also provide a more reliable grip of screed with the bulk floor. Pores at the base must be closed. Otherwise, they will become a source of getting into air filling. The result is significant defects in the floor surface. Use a roller to apply a primer. In hard -to -reach places, apply a brush. Do not save a primer. In the presence of a significant amount of pores, it is advisable to repeat the procedure again.
Along the entire perimeter of the prepared room and in the locations of the doorways, glue the foamed deformation tape. Its purpose is a deformation or temperature -shrink seam. The floor after pouring in no case should be tightly adjacent to the walls. Otherwise, deformation of the walls of the building or an increase in temperature can lead to a violation of the integrity and appearance of the bulk floor. The deformation tape is removed only after the bulk floor is completely dry. The gap formed after removal must be filled with sealant.
Filling a bulk floor requires certain conditions:
The air temperature should not drop below +15C. The temperature above +25C is undesirable.
The presence of drafts is unacceptable. Sudden temperature changes lead to a deterioration in the quality of the finished mixture. An increase in temperature leads to a faster solidification, the terms of working with the solution are reduced. When the temperature decreases, the solution becomes thicker, it is inconvenient to work with it, its consumption increases. In addition, the temperature difference significantly affects the final characteristics of the floor: its strength, color, appearance.
The moisture content of more than 4%is unacceptable. If this is not possible to process the base with a waterproofing composition. At least two processing will be required.
If ceramic tiles acts as the base, it is necessary to check the strength of its fastening, degrease using the solvent and cover with a primer designed to work with smooth surfaces.
But in no case should you use a wooden floor as a base. Even very thorough preparation does not guarantee the achievement of an acceptable result.
Fill the finish -free floor, instructions
The instructions for pouring the bulk floor include the following stages:
Prepare the mixture for filling. At the same time, strictly follow the recommendations of manufacturers. The quality of the bulk floor largely depends on the correct preparation of the mixture. Small mixtures are mixed with hardener, and cement-acrylic and polyurethane with water. A normal, comfortable mixture consistency resembles a rather thick, but pouring free cream. The consistency is regulated by a change in the amount of water. Do not overdo it. Too a lot of water can provoke the crackers of the floor. If the room is large and it is impossible to dilute the mixture for all its coating at a time, be sure to achieve the identity of the consistency of the mixture of different kneels.
Advice. Prepare the mixture immediately before use. Already 30 minutes after breeding, most of the mixtures begin to thicken. By this moment, it is advisable to have time to apply it to the base and rede it.
Pour the diluted mixture on the prepared base.
Distribute the mixture on the surface of the floor with a rocket or spatula, achieving the required floor thickness. Usually the thickness is about 5 mm. An increase in thickness will lead to an improvement in the strength of the floor. But the consumption of materials, and, accordingly, the final cost of work, will increase significantly.
When pouring a large area, there is a need to move along a freshly -poured floor. This can only be done in special shoes equipped with spikes on the sole. The mixture in this case is poured in parts. It can be stripes or squares located in a checkerboard pattern.
The next stage is removed from the air poured onto the base of the mixture. For work, a special roller equipped with spikes is used. The length of the spikes depends on the thickness of the fill layer.
If the bulk floor is used exclusively for alignment and as a base for linoleum, carpet and other materials, then work on its filling at this stage can be considered completed. It remains to wait for his complete drying.
Advice. It is believed that on the available floor you can walk 2-3 hours after filling. Do not do that. Let the floor dry at least a day, and ideally 3-4 days.
If the additional coating is not supposed, then after completely drying, proceed to fill the finish layer:
Dilute the mixture.
Pour the mixture on a completely dried bulk floor.
Distribute the mixture over the entire surface of the floor with a very thin layer.
Remove the air.
Let me dry. If necessary, after complete drying, cover the finish layer with varnish. This will not only retain the excellent appearance of the floor for a long time, but also significantly extend the period of its service.
Advice. After filling the finish layer, try to maintain a stable temperature in the room for at least two days. The finished bulk floor first must be protected from moisture.
