  2. If the bath is installed far from the wall, then the installation of PVC profile is impossible. In this case, it is recommended to fill the voids with slices of brick, and select the curb from ceramics.
  3. Ceramic borders demonstrate a high service life, so they will become the best solution during a thorough repair.
  4. Ceramics are characterized by excellent technical characteristics that are due to the chemical composition of the material. This is a high resistance to deformations and the gap, high hardness and strength, the lack of reaction to environmental factors.
  5. Plastic borders are rapidly clouding and acquire a characteristic yellowing shade. But ceramic products retain the original color during the entire service.
  6. The range of ceramic skirting boards is really impressive. They are both white, and colorful, textured and without texture, convex and concave.

The main drawback of ceramic borders is in low resistance to impacts: they are destroyed when a heavy object gets. However, if you are careful about the decoration, it will not suffer.

To install a border from ceramics, prepare the following materials and tools:

  • Silicone sealant, preferably one that has special additives, which prevent the development of mold fungus;

  • Tile glue;
  • Putty knife;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Pistol for squeezing sealant;
  • Passatigi.

If you bought a sealant in a tube, you can lay a curb without a pistol. To install the border, 2-3 tubes of silicone sealant of 50 ml are consumed on the bathtub.

The number of borders for the design of the joint between the bathroom and the wall is calculated as follows:

  1. Measure the three sides of the bath, which are in contact with the wall of the room;
  2. Divide the result by the length of one border.
  3. Trick the resulting value in the larger direction.
  4. Add a couple more products before the amount of skirting boards in case the finish is damaged or broken.

  1. The installation of the ceramic border start cleaning from cleaning. Along the perimeter of the bathtub, peel the places that come into contact with the tiles from dust and pollution. Wipe the surface dry and degrease.
  2. Then apply a sealant layer using a special gun for this. Fill the gap evenly. Use a spatula for alignment. You can also smooth the sealant with a hand moistened in water. At the same time, gaps should not occur, because water will seep through the smallest gaps.
  3. While the sealant hardens, prepare glue for tiles. Carefully follow the instructions on the packaging. The glue should stay on the workshop well. He should not crack when you knead it with your hand, and spread.

Also, for cutting a ceramic border, you can use pliers: make markings of products at an angle of 45, carefully break off small pieces from the curb along the drawn line, as if baking them. Snipple the edges on the cut, using the sandpaper.
  5. Contact the joined corners among themselves in pairs. So the gap between them will turn out to be minimal. If you have to make two joints, cut two pairs of ceramic borders.
  6. Cover the back of the border with glue using a spatula. Glue the ceramic border to the junction and remove excess adhesive composition. It is recommended to start from the corner. Lay the following products in the same way. After laying, the surface must be wiped with a damp cloth.

The price of a plastic border is much lower than self -adhesive. After all, he himself is not responsible for protecting the surface from water. Similar functions are performed by silicone sealant, and a plastic corner only a decorative element for masking a sealant layer. But to install a self -adhesive border for the bath, nothing is required of what is needed to install the corner.

If you are interested in how to glue a border from PVC on a bath, then act in the following sequence:

  1. Wipe the surface of the tile and the edges of the bath with a dry cloth, where the curb will be located. Make sure that the surface is completely dry. Smell the gap with an aquarium sealant and wait until it dries.
  2. Then measure the length of the bathtub using a tape measure. Then measure this value on the curb and cut off excess material. For convenience, cut the profile into pieces that are equal to the sides of the bath. Sprinkle both ends of the corner at an angle, which is 45 degrees.
  3. Before the installation process of a plastic skirting board, stick a masking tape 2 mm above and below the corner on the edges of the bathtub. This is done to protect the enamel of the bathtub from staining with glue. And on the curb itself, stick tape.
  4. Attach the product between the wall and the bathroom, press tightly. After that, bent up a small edge of the corner to form a small space between it and tiles. Insert a gun there to squeeze the sealant. After filling the seam, it is recommended to smooth the sealant using a spatula. Repeat similar actions with the lower part of the curb.
  5. If you work with an assistant, this is very helpful. After all, the force of pressing the corner determines the quality of gluing the border for the bath. Now you can remove the tape layer.
  6. A plastic border for tiles is also installed at the stage of installation of tiles, which hides part of the corner. This method is considered more reliable for waterproofing. However, a similar border will be replaced exclusively with tiles.

The plastic corners that are installed on the tile are able to withstand only a year of operation, maybe a little more, and then they will have to be replaced. If a plastic curb does not suit you, give preference to ceramics, which will cause trust in any. Ceramic corners with proper care will easily last before re -repair in your bathroom.
