The ceiling finishing is a very troublesome time -consuming business. To make its surface smooth, perfectly even, without influxes, changes in heights and visible seams, you will have to work hard. Plaster, putty, painting all this takes a lot of time, requires a lot of effort and financial investments. There are other ways to achieve a flat surface of the ceiling. These are modern methods of finishing stretch ceilings and ceiling tiles. What way to give preference, how to choose seamless ceilings, what to pay attention to and what are the advantages and disadvantages of paintings of different manufacturers? The answers to these questions will help choose the right option for specific tasks, given the requests and wishes of each homeowner. The choice also depends on the variety of color solutions that one or another manufacturer of seamless ceilings can offer, as well as on the installation method.

Seamless stretch ceilings of PVC Films

It is generally accepted that in the family of suspended ceilings only fabric canvases are seamless. This is due to the fact that the canvases of stretch ceilings from PVC film are produced 1.2 m wide, 1.5 m, 1.8 m and less often 2 m. To pull the canvas in the room whose width is larger than the width of the canvas, you have to weld the canvases among themselves . As a result, there are seams on the surface of the stretch ceiling, which can be visible to the naked eye, and are also vulnerable. Therefore, many prefer to use canvases of sufficient width.

Previously, a seamless ceiling could only be made with a fabric canvas. To date, some manufacturers produce PVC films for stretch ceilings of sufficient width to finish the ceiling up to 5 m wide.

For example, the so -called french seamless stretch ceilings From PVC films with a width of 3.5 m. In fact, they are not quite French, but rather Belgian. But at the same time they are made in China, though in compliance with all the norms and requirements that are quoted in the EU. China also produces wide seamless stretch ceilings. Their canvases reach 4.0 and 5.0 m in width. This is enough to cover most of the premises in the apartments of our country. Nevertheless, many companies in the installation of suspended ceilings prefer to work with European -made canvases (France, Germany, Switzerland). They say that their quality even with a welded seam is much better than a seamless Chinese ceiling. So choose you.

Advantages and disadvantages of PVC stretch ceilings

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) film for suspended ceilings has certain properties. At a temperature of more than 60 s, it begins to stretch and becomes plastic. Installation of a stretch ceiling from PVC is carried out using a heat gun, which is warmed up and then pulled onto the baguette. After cooling, the canvas sits again, the principle of tension is based on this.

Disadvantages of stretch ceilings from PVC film:

Their canvas can be easily cut, an accidental blow with a sharp object will lead to the appearance of a hole.
PVC film does not breathe, so steam and gas exchange in the room will be broken.
At temperatures below +5 C, the film becomes fragile and begins to crack, so it is impossible to install such ceilings in unheated rooms. Also, it is impossible to use PVC ceilings in suburban summer cottages, in which there are raids and heating does not work constantly.
The power of light sources used in chandeliers and lamps is limited (halogen 35 watts, incandescent lamps 40 watts), since they heat the canvas, and it begins to stretch and deform.
For installation, the exact dimensions of the room are required, since the manufacture of a seamless canvas of the stretch ceiling from PVC is made at the factory where the harpoon is welded to the edges of the film.

Also, PVC ceilings are of different textures: matte, satin, varnish, suede, marble, chameleonand others. Films with sparkles, imitation of natural materials of wood, stones, metal, leather, silk. Any photo printing can be applied to the canvases, and it will be high -quality, like a picture, glossy, and not granular and porous. Artistic painting is also possible. It consists in the fact that the canvas is made strictly for the size of the room in which it is planned to be installed, in the factory conditions the so -called harpoon is welded to the edge of the film.

As a rule, the size of the canvas from PVC film is less than the room by 5 10 %, this is necessary for high -quality tension of the canvas during installation, so that there are no folds left anywhere. The harpoon welded to the edges is an element/plate of a more durable PVC.

A baguette is attached to the walls of the premises around the perimeter, into which the harpoon of the canvas will be refuel. Before installing the stretch ceiling, the room warms up with a heat gun, then the canvas itself is heated and pulled, the harpoon is pushed into the baguette with a special spatula. There it is firmly held by the design of the baguette.

An indisputable advantage of the harpoon method of installation is its functionality and the ability to remove and install the canvas several times again, without damaging it and without losing its strength and other characteristics. Whatever happens, you can always remove and install the ceiling again. Such a trick is possible only with a stretch ceiling of PVC film. And this is a significant plus.

Seamless tissue stretch ceilings

Fabric stretch ceilings are a more familiar version of seamless ceilings. Polyester canvases impregnated with polyurethane to ensure water resistance and other qualities are produced in rolls of various widths. So you can choose a seamless canvas on the room up to 5 m wide.

Advantages and disadvantages of tissue stretch ceilings

Fabric seamless ceilings have significant advantages over PVC films that may affect the choice.

Advantages of tissue ceilings:

Resistance to low temperatures, they can be used in this temperature range: from -40 C to +80 C. This makes it possible to use tissue seamless ceilings in any unheated and non -residential premises, including in the country.
The fabric is stronger than the PVC film by 10 15 times. It withstands large mechanical influences, for example, if the plaster from the main ceiling disappears, the stretch ceiling from the fabric will be able to hold this weight. Nevertheless, you can damage the fabric, inadvertently treating sharp objects, but its trauma is several times less than that of PVC.
Installation of a fabric canvas does not require the use of a heat gun, which means that dangerous gas cylinders will not be used. Also, you do not need to take out indoor plants from the room that are afraid of high temperatures.
Do not burn and do not support burning.
They do not collect static charge, do not electrize. Accordingly, dust does not stick to the surface.
Do not smell.
The fabric canvas can be repainted up to 4 times with acrylic paints.
The fabric is well sound and heats up the room from the ceiling.

Disadvantages of tissue stretch ceilings:

As you can see, with a fabric stretch ceiling, too, everything is very contradictory. On the one hand, heat resistance, simple installation and lack of odors, and on the other, a one -time installation. And this can also cause trouble. For example, in case of flooding, even if the canvas holds water, it will have to be replaced, since it is possible to drain the water, you can only pull the edge out of the baguette. Although much depends on the professionalism of the installers.

Seamless Clipso ceilings

The fabric of the stretch ceilings of the Swiss company Clips differs from the PVC with a more uniform pattern, both from the front and the wrong side. The drawing is a knitted weaving, where the density of the loops in the horizontal and vertical direction is the same. Unlike the fabric of the company deskor (direct competitor), the clipso fabric is a larger cell due to the fact that a thicker thread and a larger step are used. Fabric density 240 g/m2. To the touch, the clip material is more rough, the cells are more noticeable and therefore there is an opinion that fabric ceilings breathe. In fact, this is not so, the manufacturers themselves doubt such a property of their products.

The large pores of seamless stretch ceilings of the clips are in a rattle to the height of the room in which they are installed. The color of the canvas is quite calm. They say that the white color of such a canvas is closest to natural white color.

The width of the rolls of the clips of the clips from 2 m to 5.1 m with intervals of 0.5 m. This allows you to choose the most suitable size without overpaying. The fastening of these ceilings is carried out by a clip method, which we will talk about below.

Seamless Clips stretch ceilings are produced in several color and textured solutions. There are such categories in the assortment:

Standard. Monophone classic canvases of beige, white and black.

Color. Only 25 matte shades: blue, orange, green, yellow, red, purple, blue, terracotta and others. The largest selection in pastel shades.
Shiny. Squeezes are applied to the canvases of 8 colors, which will give the room an exquisite look. Suitable for rooms with plain design.

Seamless Descor ceilings

Unlike Clipso, the fabric of the German company Deskor is smaller. This is due to the fact that its production uses a thinner thread and a smaller step of weaving. They say that the deskcore fabric cells are not noticeable from a height of 2.5 m. The canvas has a more bluish tint of white compared to clip, also does not breathe and has a density of 240 g/m2.

The width of the tissue rolls from 3.1 m to 5.1 m with intervals of 1 m. In order to choose the canvas for the size of the room, you have to choose from the presented size and overpay for the excess.

Seamless grinding ceilings deskr are attached with a head -up and clip method. Moreover, installers-installers say that they can be installed on Russian-made baguits, since they are softer.

Categories of color and textured decisions of the ceilings deskor depend on the quality of the materials used and their properties:

Descor Trevira. The canvases are made from materials of the best quality, with the safest additives. This category is considered the most environmentally friendly, so they can be installed in residential premises, children's rooms and medical institutions.
Descor Fr. A little cheaper (15 20 %) due to less high -quality additives.

Descor Acoustic. Acoustic ceilings are the latest technology, similar to clips.

Seamless Cherutti Street ceilings

The fabric of the Italian company Cheutti differs from the fabrics of other European producers of suspended ceilings. It is also made of polyester, but reinforced with nylon threads, and is also covered with polyurethane on both sides 2 times. Due to all this, the canvas is harder, and in a large room it can sag.

Seamless ceilings of Cheutti are strong, waterproof, resistant to dirt and easily wash. They are produced in rolls with a width of 3.1 m to 5.1 m with an interval of 1 m. Color solutions of these ceilings are a little white and many pastel shades.

The canvas is varnished from the front and wrong side, this does not allow water and dirt. The Italian company Cheutti combined environmentally friendly green technologies, modern materials and a unique method of fastening. As a result, the seamless stretch ceilings of Cheutti received the highest security class and are recommended for installation in medical institutions, kindergartens and living rooms.

Cerutti seamless stretch ceilings are attached in a special way using the P-shaped baguette, in which there is a clothespin holding the canvas, as well as using a cord.

Ways to attach fabric seamless stretch ceilings

As we already wrote, the harpoon method of attachment is not suitable for fabric seamless ceilings, because the fabric is inelastic, and it is impossible to attach harpoon to it. In total, tissue ceilings are attached 3: wedge, clip and cord (for Cheritty canvases).

Brill method (graduate) universal, in some ways even a artisanal method of fastening. In the P-shaped profile, fixed to the wall, the canvas of the stretch ceiling is inserted and fixed into the cracks using piles of wooden or plastic. The excess canvas is cut, and the technological gap is closed with a decorative plug (filler).

Clip method The fasteners are provided with a baguette of a certain design. In it, the lower elements are located in a certain way, as shown in the photo. A fabric or PVC canvas with a spatula is refueling in the gap between the planes. The baguette firmly snaps the canvas inside itself, the excess canvas is cut off, and the design of the baguette itself is not necessary to use a decorative filler.

Cord method of attaching the stretch ceiling of Cheutti

Cord method The mounts are the patented technology of the company Cheutti. The baguette fixed to the wall is equipped with special clips that can temporarily hold the canvas. First, it is stretched and attached to clips in the corners. Then, with the help of a weapon cord, the sides of the canvas in the baguette are fixed more thin. When along the entire perimeter the canvas will be tucked into the baguette, the thin cord is replaced by thicker, gradually.

Seamless tile ceiling

A separate category of seamless ceilings can be distinguished by the ceiling with tiles. There are so -called seamless tiles of extruded polystyrene, the edges of which are made in such a way that the seams between them are not visible on the ceiling. The picture is even, homogeneous.

Seamless ceiling tiles

The tile itself is made in various textured executions, with various relief drawings selected so that they can easily be connected into one picture. There are tiles imitating stucco molding, wood, other textures. The shape of the ceiling tiles is usually square or rectangular, but the contours can be very different, including carved wave -shaped edges.

Seamless ceiling tiles for glue are attached. To make the ceiling perfectly even and beautiful, its surface must be thoroughly aligned, plastered and swollen. This is a rather time -consuming task, therefore, most often the simplest decoration options are chosen.

The choice of seamless ceiling is entirely dependent on the wishes of the owner. If the simplicity of installation is placed at the forefront, it is better to choose a stretch ceiling. If the surface of the main ceiling is so even even, then seamless tiles can be glued.
