Linoleum on a wooden floor: varieties of styling material

In relation to the main component of linoleum, this material happens:

  • polyvinyl chloride - for the manufacture of this linoleum, it is necessary to use polymers, there are two types of material - with the presence of the base, without it, in addition, the basis is foamed, tissue or thermal insulation;
  • linoleum, which has a foamed base - the material consists of 4 layers, this material has good heat -insulating and soundproofing properties, it also has strength, flexibility, has a long service life, this type of linoleum is installed in rooms with a high level of moisture or high operational load;

  • The fabric base for linoleum involves the use of a special fabric on which a protective coating is applied, ensuring its safety during the operation of linoleum, the material is quite plastic and has high strength;
  • The soundproofing or thermal insulation base for linoleum has a large number of advantages, for the manufacture of this material, felt or foamed reinforced synthetic material is used, polyvinyl chloride film is applied to it;
  • linoleum, in which is not existed, is distinguished by a homogeneous texture, in addition, it has high operational characteristics, good moisture resistance;
  • material on a alkyd basis - is characterized by the presence of mineral fillers and resin of alkyd origin, for the manufacture of the subonos, materials are used both natural and synthetic in nature, among the disadvantages of this type of linoleum, its low plasticity, a tendency to crack and breeding;
  • The linoleum on the rubber has a two -layer texture, the lower layer is based on bitumen and rubber, and the upper is colored rubber, among the features of rubber linoleum, high indicators of plasticity, moisture resistance and the ability to use in rooms with a high level of moisture, wide color scheme;
  • The linoleum of the colloxyl type is characterized by the presence of a nitro -cellulose coating, it has high fire safety rates, bends well and is distinguished by the presence of a peculiar shine.

How to put linoleum on a wooden floor: preliminary preparation

The wooden base before laying linoleum should be carefully checked for the presence of gross defects, garbage, rot, etc. In the absence of mold and fungus on a wooden floor, and in the presence of only small flaws, you can begin direct work on laying linoleum coating.

The preparation of the floor, in this case, is based on the performance of such actions:

  • fixation of all boards and strips on the surface of the floor;
  • the absence of elevations, changes in height on the floor, its alignment, for these purposes you will need a grinding machine or electric plane;
  • all the hats of fasteners are shed by 1-2 mm, and the recesses are put down with a special mixture designed to work with wooden surfaces;
  • surface grinding;
  • Removal of garbage, which was formed as a result of this process.

Keep in mind that with an unequal wear of a wooden floor, if there are too big problems on one of its parts, such as a fungus or mold, it is necessary to replace previously damaged boards.

A simpler option would be to lay plywood, which will hide all visible defects, and at the same time make the floor surface perfectly even.

To fix the material, self -tapping screws are used, the hats of which should also be hidden by several centimeters. Next, the surface of the surface and its further grinding are put up.

This option allows you to simplify and facilitate the layout of linoleum on the floor. Keep in mind that linoleum should be laid on a wooden base only after its high -quality processing and preparation.

Aligning the wooden floor with plywood

If the flooring is not subject to restoration, if there are a large number of defects on it, then for the rapid repair and in order to save money and temporary resources, it is recommended to align the base of the gender with plywood before laying linoleum.

To carry out this procedure, it will require:

  • screwdriver;
  • electrician;
  • construction level;
  • roulette;
  • Self -tapping and dowels.

Before the leveling, check the floor for the presence of a creak. If this is present, then take care of replacing old creaking boards with new ones. In addition, the base should be leveled under the plywood to ensure the evenness of the floor.

Next, the lag is installed, for these purposes, the water level should be used. Keep in mind that the thickness of the plywood should be at least one centimeter for laying linoleum. To align the base, you should set the lags, plywood is used for their manufacture, the width of each lag is about 30 mm. Before laying the lag, marking should be made according to which they will be located on the floor.

To determine the horizontal location of the lag, use the building level. The next stage is the arrangement of the crate, it should be the same size with the plywood. To fill the free space between the lags, the seal is used. The final stage is the fixation of plywood on the surface of the wooden coating. Please note that all wooden parts must be treated with the help of antiseptic drugs that will protect them from mold and fungus.

To fix plywood, it is necessary to have self -tapping screws and plastic dowels. Before installing the screw, using the electric drill, drill holes for them. Thus, it will be possible to avoid cracking plywood. All hats of fasteners are hidden a few centimeters deep into plywood.

After grinding the surface, linoleum is laid on it, about the features of the installation of which we will talk further.

Lining linoleum on a wooden floor: technology and recommendations

Keep in mind that in the room before laying linoleum there should not be too sharp temperature changes, for at least two days. In addition, the recommended air temperature is more than 19 degrees of heat, and humidity is about 50%.

Before laying linoleum, you should leave the material in the acclimatization room for 24 hours.

You should also pay attention to such technological nuances:

  • When laying linoleum in a room with a large area, in the process of buying several rolls, it is necessary to choose the material from only one batch, since there is a risk of color or shade in different rolls of linoleum;
  • If the coating based on polyvinyl chloride is laid, then for these purposes a reverse method is used, the contact of each canvas with each other should be carried out by the same side, so the risk of color discrepancy is excluded;
  • In the process of laying linoleum on a natural basis or coating that imitates a tree, it should be installed so that the texture has one direction.

There are several ways with which we lay linoleum on the wooden floor:

  • Direct laying of the material - this method is one of the simplest and fastest, however, its disadvantage is the unreliability of the resulting base, is used exclusively in rooms with a small (up to twelve square meters) area, this styling method is based on thoroughly level linoleum on the surface and fix it with skirting boards;
  • By fixing with double -sided tape - the use of this laying method allows you to increase the life of linoleum coating, first gluing tape around the perimeter of the room, and then in a lattice -like form throughout the room, removing the protective film from adhesive tape is carried out immediately after applying it to the floor, try to smooth out well linoleum in the process of laying it;
  • With the help of glue - this method is the most reliable, since such linoleum is firmly held on the surface, is not deformed and operated for a long time.

How to lay linoleum on a wooden floor: laying linoleum with glue

In order to easily cope with the installation of linoleum on a wooden base using glue, you should familiarize yourself with the instructions that will help to do this:

  1. Mark the installation site of each part of the linoleum. Cut it in parts, if necessary. Keep in mind that for each side you should leave a reserve about 45-50 cm. After linoleum acclimatization, all excesses are removed.
  2. After preparing the canvas, one part of it is wrapped. Using a pencil, indicate the boundary along which glue will be applied.
  3. To apply glue, it is recommended to use a gear spatula.
  4. The process of applying glue should be based primarily on instructions from the manufacturer of this material.
  5. Next, linoleum is laid on the previously applied glue and is well led, first with the hands, and then with a roller.
  6. In the same way, you should make with the remaining part of the non -glued linoleum.

In the process of laying linoleum in a large room, sometimes it is required to install from one to three, and even four sheets of linoleum. The principle of laying remains unchanged. Only one should take into account the fact that laying of each new canvas is carried out with an overlap on the previous one. The size of the overlap is about two centimeters. Thus, the seams turn out to be perfectly even, and the edge will break without much effort.

Tip: Linoleum should not be fixed on the surface exclusively with skirting boards, even if the room is small, but there is the possibility of laying linoleum on glue, then it should be used.

In the process of laying linoleum on the floor without glue, with prolonged operation, it begins to deform.

Joints should be cut only after 48 hours after laying linoleum. For these purposes, you will need a steel long ruler and a special stationery knife. Follow the evenness of the suture cutting, try to remove all the excess linoleum immediately, and at the junction, install the board and cargo until the linoleum completely dries.

During the operation of linoleum, try to avoid the use of abrasive chemicals to clean it, as it can lead to cracking and testing the surface. The easiest option for linoleum care is to wash it with warm, soapy water and rags.

To protect linoleum from mechanical exposure, it is recommended to use special mastics and polishes. In order for the furniture not to scratch linoleum, special lining is put on it.

Recommendations for the choice of linoleum for laying on a wooden base

  • The smell of linoleum is too sharply indicated by the incorrect technology for its manufacture. Most often, the material contains a large number of additives harmful to human health.
  • In addition, on high -quality linoleum there is no greasy shine, a clear and specific texture is visible on it, and the minimum number of layers is 4.5, depending on the type of material.
  • In accordance with the width, the most commonly selected material that coincides with the width of the room in which it will be laid. In the process of calculations, also keep in mind that the presence of niches, protrusions, batteries and other elements under which linoleum does not fit.
  • Try to buy linoleum in stores, not in the markets, since to determine its quality it is necessary that it be at room temperature.
  • Ask the consultant documents that confirm his security and compliance with all norms and requirements.

  • Try to roll out linoleum in the store in order to make sure that there are no hillocks, depressions, waves and other defects on it.
  • Never fold linoleum canvases in half. In addition, it is forbidden to glue its front surface with tape. Most often, after folding, the front side of linoleum is inside. Otherwise, a special film is used to protect the roll.
  • Try to choose the material on which there is a protective coating on top, it allows the linoleum pattern to last longer, and the cleaning process is much faster.
